Tamba Damru or Damroo

The Damru is known as the sacred instrument of Lord Shiva. It is traditionally made of wood and is a small, two-headed drum used in Hinduism as well as Tibetan Buddhism.

The Damru symbolizes the sound of Aum (Om)—the all-pervading, eternal sound that has existed since infinity. This sound represents a single, continuous beat without variation. When Lord Shiva plays the Damru, he produces the sacred Omkara, and when he dances while playing it, he is worshipped as Nataraja, the Lord of Dance.
