Description

Lord Kaal Bhairav is called “Kshetra Palaka,” the Protector God. He guards various Kshetras and saves the sanctity and power of those holy places from negative and demonic elements. He guards the Kashi Kshetra which is known as Varanasi. Adi Shankaracharya calls him the King of Kashi in his Kalabhairava Ashtakam. Lord Kaalbhairava is also known as “Dhanda Pani” as he holds Danda, the stick in his hand. He has dogs as his vehicles. He destroys the internal enemies of humans: lust, ego, anger and greed, and bestows wisdom which liberates them.

Devaseva invites you to take part in Ashta Bhairava Havan on the auspicious day of Kalashtami (September 7th) to attain wealth, prosperity and protection from evil forces.

Significance of Ashta Bhairava

Puranas mention 64 different forms of Bhairava who emerged from Lord Shiva. These 64 forms are further categorised into 8 forms of Bhairava called “Ashtanga Bhairavas”. The eight Bhairavas are: Asithanga Bhairava, Ruru Bhairava, Chanda Bhairava, Krodha Bhairava, Unmatta Bhairava, Kapala Bhairava, Bhishana Bhairava, Samhara Bhairava. The eight Bhairavas guard and control the eight directions and have a vahana for themself. It is believed that worshipping the eight Bhairavas on the day of Kalashtami is a sacred and rare opportunity and results in complete destruction of enemies, negative forces, and inner enemies like greed, ego, lust, anger and procrastination.
